WHITING DAVIS baby mesh purse with pink roses design, circa 1930WHITING DAVIS baby mesh purse with pink roses design, circa 1930. The gold tone Deco style frame has a stepped and pierced design, quite lovely. The purse itself is in good vintage condition, but there is at least one chain fringe missing and the soft green fabric lining is badly frayed at the bottom inside. The purse is 5" by 9-1/2" with a 15" handle.A similar purse is in the 1932 Denver Jeweler's Buying Guide catalogue, see the last photo here. While mesh bags were hand made in the 1800's, the invention of the mesh making machine in 1909 made them more readily available. There are many types of mesh, some of which are: ring mesh; Dresden mesh; baby mesh; fish scale mesh; and enameled mesh View View Product #27810 All items in excellent vintage condition unless otherwise noted.
