Description WHITING DAVIS baby mesh purse with a circle of pink roses design, circa 1930.  The gold tone Deco style frame has a stepped and pierced design, quite lovely.  The purse itself is in good vintage condition, but there are a few chain fringes missing from the bottom and the soft green fabric lining is badly frayed on the inside.  The purse is 9-1/2" long by 5" wide with a 15" handle.

 A similar purse can be seen in the 1932 Denver Jeweler's Buying Guide catalogue.  While mesh bags were hand made in the 1800's, the invention of the mesh making machine in 1909 made them more readily available.  View  View  View  View  View
