BAKELITE hitchhiker brooch with suitcase & college beanie, Deco era
DescriptionBAKELITE hitchhiker brooch with suitcase and college beanie circa 1930-40, size 2-5/8" by 1-1/3". The body is yellow bakelite, the suitcase root beer colored and the details are all hand painted. The handle of the suitcase was coated string, but the coating has fallen off. Otherwise this is in very good condition with only a small amount of paint loss, as can be seen in the photos.
This piece can be seen in the books "The Bakelite Collection" by Matthew Burkholz on page 50, and "Bakelite Pins" by Karima Parry on page 125.
