FEATURE: PATRIOTIC JEWELRY
| Say "patriotic" in the vintage jewelry world and what first pops to mind is the wonderful jewelry from the 1940s.... the World War II era. It includes flags, stars, mottos, military motifs and sentimental souvenirs, as well as anything red-white-and-blue. Bakelite and wood jewelry were popular in part because they were relatively inexpensive materials. Jewelry was often made of sterling or sterling vermeil because other metals were needed for the war effort. And Lucite was an unusual, attractive new material invented around this time and also used in jewelry. A related branch of jewelry includes the souvenir pieces that soldiers brought home from overseas, both hand made items that our military men made and jewelry from foreign countries. From hand etched coin bracelets to European cameos and Asian jewelry, soldiers families treasure things brought back from "over there".
The 4th of July is coming and what a great time to add to your collection of fun jewelry to wear! Â To purchase patriotic jewelry please click HERE. And to see our reference gallery of different kinds of patriotic jewelry, please click HERE. | FEATURE: SPRING FLOWERS | Flowers, leaves, bouquets, and baskets are all wonderful when fashioned out of rhinestones and metals. I have a weakness for enameled jewelry in particular. It started with my grandmothers Edwardian tiny translucent enameled floral lavalieres and moves through the wonderful 1940s DeRosa enamels and up to the glossy Swarovski jewelry of the 1990s. Enjoy buying our floral jewelry HERE. And DeRosa jewelry HERE. And for whats new on Morning Glory this week, click HERE. This week we have DuJay, DeRosa, Swarovski, Kenneth Cole, Schreiner, Fashioncraft and more!
