| FEATURE: HALLOWEEN ORANGE Jewelry | In the same way that Christmas colors are red and green, the colors for Halloween are orange and black. Why? Some think the black symbolizes the dead of night and haunting. And some think that orange is the color of Fall harvests and falling leaves.
The color orange symbolizes energy, vitality and endurance in many cultures. It denotes health and stimulates the appetite. In Asia, it is an important color in both Buddhism and Hinduism. Its amazing how many types of jewelry were made in orange... bakelite, rhinestones, glass beads and many other materials all can be found in this vibrant color. Right now we have a Wendy Gell Orange Crush Wristie, one of her wonderful older ones with the ornately beaded sides. Miriam Haskell did some intricate orange glass beaded treats from the 1940s. And Lunch at the Ritz with a pair of dangly Halloween candies earrings.

| FEATURE: BLACK Jewelry | The color black is a classic, and Coco Chanels "Little Black Dress" is a great example that has lasted for decades. Black is the color of mystery, magic, mourning and the night. It can also be the color of sophistication and elegance, as in a black tie dinner and the slinky fashions of the 1930-40s Hollywood.
One of my all-time favorites in black jewelry is Whitby jet and I wear it with almost everything. Hand carved, most of it is now over 150 years old and still holds the appeal it did when Queen Victorian first popularized it in the mid-1800s.
And speaking of Queens, the DeRosa bracelet at the right looks like it might belong to a queen. Ornate, beautifully made and of high quality, it has all the attributes that make DeRosa my favorite.
