| FEATURE: BAKELITE BANGLES
| Bakelite jewelry was at its zenith from the late 1920s till the start of WWII in 1942. The need for inexpensive fun during the Depression era of the 1930s gave the whimsy, color and cheerful look of bakelite jewelry the perfect market. The sophisticated Deco and machine age look of some of the pieces made them fashion favorites.
Bakelite had a renaissance in the 1980s. It was featured on the cover of "Connoisseur" Magazine in July of 1985, and in 1987 when the famous artist Andy Warhol passed away, his huge collection of bakelite jewelry went up for sale at Sothebys Auctions and fetched record prices.
Many of us passionate collectors wear stacks of bangles today. The colors, carving and styles allow collectors to mix and match to suit mood, personality and fashion, and the "clunk" of bangles against each other is a sound we crave, the more the better!
REFERENCE INFORMATION: We have a gallery showing the many styles and colors of bakelite bangles HERE.

| FEATURE: BAKELITE PINS
| BAKELITE bangles are great fun to wear, but the most whimsical pieces of vintage bakelite are the clips and brooches. Carved, reverse carved, laminated and added to wood and Lucite, they come in an amazing variety. The Google eyed character brooches cant help buy make you smile. Well carved brooches were done as figurals, flower and leaf motifs and abstract designs. Each was done by hand, and each has its own personality! Like the bangles, brooches and clip may be ornamented with painted, brass or resin washed accents. For the GALLERY of BAKELITE PINS JEWELRY please click HERE.
To add BAKELITE PINS, NECKLACES AND RINGS to your own collection, PIECES FOR SALE are here.
