FEATURE:  ANTIQUE JEWELRY

Antique jewelry is, by definition, over 100 years old. It is beautifully evocative of the era, clothing and mores of the time it is made. There is a fabulous new book out called "Jewellery in the Age of Queen Victoria: A Mirror to the World" by Gere & Rudoe and while it is a huge book that you cannot read in a day, I do recommend it highly. It is full of wonderful jewelry and absolutely stuffed with information.

Here at Morning Glory we have some amazing antique pieces this month. Be sure to come see them at our web site.

Whether a family heirloom or a recent find, antique jewelry continues to fascinate collectors and jewelry lovers alike. The sentiment, history, craftsmanship and whimsy lures new collectors and historians to this day. Everyday people treasured these wonderful echoes of the past, and we are fortunate that so many of them have been handed down to our generation to wear, protect and enjoy.

FEATURE:1990s Millie Petronzio MIRIAM HASKELL

Miriam Haskell... the jewels that dreams are made of! Her designs are legendary, and her look unique. She began in the jewelry business in the mid-1920s, and it is said that she did not sign her jewelry until about 1947. The list of wonderful designers who worked for her includes Frank Hess, Bob Clark, Larry Vrba and Millie Petronzio.

Haskell head designer Millie Petronzio made several special order pieces for me in the 1990s and they have been in my personal collections since then. In mint never-worn condition, they are real treasures... dont miss seeing them as they are now for sale!
