LEAVES
These frosted glass leaves have always caught my eye for the way
they reflect the
light. The delicacy, color and
combinations with other stones are very special.
Makers who used these include Schiaparelli, Hattie Carnegie, Hobe, Schreiner and
also some unsigned pieces. So far, I haven’t seen these used in bracelets, but who knows what may turn up in the
future.
Colors: yellow, green, peach, golden, blue, black, tan and clear.
Each molded and veined glass leaf is held in a metal solid
backed gold tone setting and attached to a "branch". Some have a
tiny rhinestone drop at the end of each leaf and some do not.
Some twigs can be bent just a bit in order to curve around the
center stone in different ways.

FROSTED molded glass leaves and deep orange glass cabochon set in gold
tone brooch with pendant hook on back, 3-1/4". This may be an
unsigned Schreiner brooch and it
can be seen in the
book, "Schreiner: Masters of the Twentieth Century Costume Jewelry" by
Carole Tanenbaum and Eve Townsend Page 52.

SCHREINER
brooch and earrings made of frosted glass leaves in blue and white in a gold
tone setting, made in the 1960s. The brooch is 2-5/8" by 2-1/3" and the clip
back earrings 7/8". They are accented with small glass pearls and shimmer in
the light. I have now seen this same set signed "Schreiner NY" but this set
is not signed. The Carole Tanenbaum and Eve Townsend book "Schreiner- Master
of 20th Century Costume Jewelry" shows this on page 52. The designer Hattie
Carnegie was also fond of these leaves and used them in her jewelry, and I
have also seen them in similar unsigned pieces, too. This is a really lovely
set in excellent condition.
