BUG & INSECT JEWELRY

VICTORIAN 9 carat and agate
oval pendant with insect detailed on top, very rare, circa 1870, 2-1/2"
total length by 1-1/3" wide.
View
View #V33021

VICTORIAN NCR Company
marked silver gilt bee motif set- a spectacular pendant, collar and
earrings with a three-dimensional bee motif. The detail in this is so
fine, better than pictures can show. On each piece, the detailed bee
sits atop a puffy oval with lovely dangles beneath. The collar itself
has the front of each link decorated with ferns and scrolls and a beaded
edge. The collar is 15" by 5/8"wide; the pendant body is 1" by 1-1/3",
total length 2-1/2 from top of loop to bottom of dangles; the brooch is
1-1/4" by 1-3/4" total; and the earrings are 2-1/2" total length by 3/4"
wide.

VICTORIAN dragonfly and poppy sash pin with lovely green rhinestones set in a matte
gold tone metal finish, circa 1900, 2-5/8" by 1-5/8". This has got to be my
very favorite sash pin ever! The brooch itself is curved while the pin back
is straight, so there’s room for a scarf or a hanky to run between them. This
very same piece can be seen Christie Romero’s book "Warman’s Jewelry, Ed. 3" on
page 111.

HASKELL Egyptian
scarab motif aqua, blue and orange 2-5/8" brooch designed by Larry Vrba
circa 1972-4. Larry says thousands of these were made because this was an
extremely well-received group which stayed in the line for about 2 years due
to it’s popularity. That is a long time, as many pieces from that era
were only sold for one season.

It comes with the

BARCLAY
original design art work for this brooch. It is
interesting to see that the original idea was for the pods to be green
enamel, but in the finished brooch leaves are green instead. The design
process of jewelry is documented here. To see more jewelry design art
work, click HERE. I
have not so far seen another brooch like this and often wonder if it was
made as a sample but never put into production.
