| Feature: DEROSA JEWELRY 1934 to 1970s
| DeRosa jewelry is known for its complex dimensional design, high quality components, translucent enameling and wonderful coloring. Ralph DeRosa jewelry designs range from florals, figurals, retro motifs, and designs inspired by the precious jewelry of the era. DeRosa jewelry is not easy to find, but is certainly worth the search. This New York City firm made jewelry from the mid-1930s until the 1970s, but like many jewelry makers, their 1940s jewelry is the best.

| Feature: SNAKE, DRAGON & SERPENT JEWELRY
| The SNAKE or serpent was the symbol of royalty and deity in early Egyptian society. Victorian jewelry often used an entwined snake to symbolize infinity and eternal love. Over the years the snake has also come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth and wisdom.
While serpent motif jewelry goes far back in history, its popularity really spread starting in the 1840s and peaked between then and the 1860s (Understanding Jewellery, Bennett, pages 88 & 104). But as far as I am concerned, it is timeless and unique in both its art and symbolism. A gallery of SNAKE JEWELRY can be seen here. SNAKE jewelry that is for sale can be seen HERE.
DRAGON jewelry that is for sale can be seen HERE.
| REFERENCE: Jewel Chat "JEWELRY SYMBOLS"
| Symbols, myths, tokens and mysteries... the things of which stories are made. Personal adornment began when man first walked upright, and the methods and meanings of that adornment has had a certain constancy through the centuries. While shapes and patterns may call to mind different meanings in various cultures, there is enough similarity to make interpreting them add an interesting dimension to jewelry collecting. Does your jewelry have a symbolic meaning? Check HERE to see.
