| ARTICLE: "Dating Hinged Bangles"
| Bracelets are in demand and it is interesting to be able to date the pieces we wear and collect. This feature spans the decades from Victorian bangles to the 1930s filigrees and continues through the bracelets of the 1950s. Vintage catalogues, old patent drawings, carte de visites showing jewelry and pictures of the bracelets make for interesting comparisons and enable us to track the changes in style through the years.
Over the last few weeks I have gone through every vintage catalogue I own (about 80 of them!), all the patents I could find. There are photographed the bangles themselves, noting designs, findings and marks. The culmination of all this research on bangles can be seen here:
