| FEATURE: BAKELITE BANGLE STACKS
| One of the most enjoyable things about BAKELITE BANGLES is wearing them in stacks, creating color combinations of your very own and changing the look each time you wear them. And it only takes a few bangles to get started! Stacks can be in similar color but with different carving styles (see the top photo at the right), or color combos that either blend or are dramatic opposites. You can mix or match different widths and profiles as well. At the right are some examples, but the possibilities are literally endless.
We all like to reflect our personalities in how we dress and what better way to do it than with accents of jewelry? Bakelite colors are yummy, lets face it, and it is no wonder so many of their colors are named after foods and candy. Cherry red, apple juice, butterscotch, pea green, wine... all lovely colors. | WE live in a dramatically changing world today, and like in the Depression era of the 1930s when colorful bakelite jewelry was first made, at times it can be challenging. So what is more upbeat that BAKELITE jewelry to set your look apart, lift your mood and send a cheerful message? RON and ESTER SHULTZ have worked with vintage bakelite for three decades and they are the masters of that material. All the work is done one-at-a-time and by hand, and all is made of vintage 1930-40s bakelite. While Ron does most of the bangles, Ester is the one who designed and carved many of their wonderful brooches. Whimsical, colorful, cheerful and fun, these works of art are the MOST fun to wear, and they are guaranteed to get comments every time. They sometimes are reverse carved and painted, or laminated, or have other materials added to create the wonderful detail for which they are known. And the smooth polish Ron gets on his pieces is just amazing. They never made nearly as many brooches as bangles, so these wonderful pieces are a real treasure.
