HC CARNEGIE royal king and queen fur clips with milk glass bellies and clear rhinestone accents

Designer: Carnegie
Price: $598.00
Description HC CARNEGIE royal king and queen fur clips with milk glass bellies and clear rhinestone accents in a lovely matte gold plated setting, made in about 1942.  Both regal pieces have the earlier "HC" mark for Hattie Carnegie on the back.  The king is 2-1/4" by 1-1/4", the queen 2-5/8" by 1-1/2".

These are such a great couple and can be worn together or one at a time.  The pearl coating on the front of the bellies is no longer there, there is just the original milk glass.  Milk glass is pretty itself so not everyone would notice, but it is something I felt it fair to mention and the price is adjusted accordingly.

There is a similar piece, a wax seal, in the fine jewelry section of the Metropolitan Museum and on their web site HERE.  Theirs is from the 17th-18th century and made of carat gold, platinum and diamonds.  Ours is a piece of costume jewelry, of course, but I bet the Metropolitan's seal was Carnegie's inspiration for her wonderful and unusual set.

NOTE: I have seen an advertisement now dating these to 1942 and calling them the "Emperor" pin and "Empress Elizabeth".  Thanks to Liz Gross for this information.
