Description LARRY VRBA hinged brooch with a golden horse head at the top, wonderful red textured stones and purple cabochons, and glass pearls, all set in gold tone. In addition he has added several different kinds of aurora borealis stones, as well as red faceted glass beads and clear rhinestone flat backs and roundelles. Signed on the back "Lawrence Vrba", it is 7" long and 4" at the widest.
NOTE: Larry told me that the horse head element is a rare piece from the 1940s! He was so pleased to be able to use it in this brooch. He also said the gold caps on the dangling pearls are from his cache of old Miriam Haskell findings.
Larry says the Art Nouveau frame that the top part is built on is a French finding sourced at the Framex Company in Paris, designed between 1890-1910.
The stamped ribbon was used extensively by the Schiaparelli Company, and I have seen it used in one of their necklaces. View View View View View Product #X42122
