VICTORIAN sterling silver chatelaine, 1900
VICTORIAN sterling silver chatelaine with a belt clip decorated by an apostle at the top and pierced circle surrounding a child below it. Included are a vesta with etched foliate design and the engraved initials "AT", hallmarked for Birmingham assay 1909, maker "TH". The glove hook is marked "M Bros" and hallmarked Birmingham 1892, 1-5/8"; the pencil marked "S. Mordan & Co." and does not have lead or a point. The total length is 8", the clip is 4-1/3", and the glove hook is 1-3/4". This is a heavy and well made piece, and although the clip has no hallmarks, it does test as sterling.
