Victorian steel sewing chatelaine
VICTORIAN steel sewing chatelaine, 2" horse shoe clip with 16" total length, flip-out glove hook 1-5/8"; thimble bucket 1-1/4"; needle box 2-5/8".
Chatelaines might be comprised of items all used for one task...sewing, for instance... or combined with various items that suited the wearer. Some were matching sets and others were compiled over time by the owner, especially the sterling chatelaines. Most fashionable from about 1870 to World War I, they remain popular with collectors today.
