VICTORIAN ivory sewing etui, British expedition 1867
VICTORIAN ivory sewing etui or necessaire circa 1867. Each piece is matching and the kit is perfectly complete... even the hinges match the items as they all have the same dots pattern. Included inside are sterling silver sewing necessities: scissors, needle case, thimble, bodkin and punch. An amazing set with history and provenance.
On the front is a Coat of Arms and the words
"British Expedition of 1867 to Abysinnia". This particular etui was made for a family member of Lieutenant General Sir Napier who led the expedition.
