Victorian Children’s Jewelry

Vintage children’s jewelry can be seen in many of the old photographs.
Coral beads, silver lockets, bead necklaces and little bracelets all
seem to have been popular in the Victorian era. Coral was thought to
ward off ill health so even babies worn small beaded necklaces and
bracelets of coral. "Baby" was embossed or engraved on tiny pins and
bracelets, and jewelry with compartments for a treasured photo of a baby
or child was also popular. Many vintage jewelry catalogues offered these
pieces.

rabbits
in sterling for the well-dressed 1950’s era baby. It was put around the
baby’s neck and clipped to a fancy hanky used as a bib.

VICTORIAN
baby ring charm, 10k and garnet cabochon ring charm with scrolling shell
shapes embossed on each side, marked "10k" inside the band. This has been turned into a charm by
adding a loupe on the back at some time in the past. It is 7-1/6" across the
inside and 1/8 wide at the front and weighs .02 ounces.

VICTORIAN English 9 karat yellow gold ring with a worn sapphire in the
center and a seed pearl on each side, marked "HB" inside the band.
It’s a size 5 and 3/16" wide at the front and it weighs .03 ounces. The
sapphire is set into a tiny gold flower and each pearl into a bud shape.
The blue stone, which tests as a sapphire, is worn if you look at it under a
5x lens but you can’t see the wear on your finger.

CELTIC 9 carat yellow gold baby ring with a heart center and Irish
Celtic knot symbols on each side. It is size 1-3/4 or 1-2" across
the inside and 3/16" wide, weighing .01 ounces. The heart
hasn’t been engraved so it’s ready for you initials to be added if you want.

VICTORIAN 9 ct. baby ring with a pearl in the center and a ruby or
garnet on each side, tests 9ct.It is almost a size 1-1/2 or a bit shy of
1/2" across the inside, and the front is 1/4" wide at the front. It has no
marks but it tests 9 karat and weighs .02 ounces.

VICTORIAN 14k yellow gold baby ring, a tiny embossed band marked "14k"
on the inside, 7/16 across the inside and 1/8" wide and weighs .04 ounces.
The designs are amazingly detailed for such a small ring, and they are scrolls
and leaves that go all the way around the band.
